Signing of the AMESD Grant Contract (1.231 M€) to the Mauritius Oceanography Institute

The European Union, the African Union and the Mauritius Oceanography Institute (MOI) have signed this Monday, September 7, on the MOI premises (Quatre-Bornes - Mauritius) with an IOC representative, the AMESD-THEMA grant contract.

Inauguration of the AMESD satellite receiving station in Mauritius

On 26th June 2009, the 2nd AMESD-EUMETCast satellite receiving station  was officially inaugurated on the roof of the Mauritius Oceanography Institute (MOI), AMESD Regional Implementation Center (RIC) for the Indian Ocean Commission region, in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius.

IOC THEMA launching workshop

IOC logoThe Mauritius Oceanographic Institute (MOI) and the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) held on 20 and 21 January at the Gold Crest Hotel in Quatre-Bornes (Mauritius) the launching seminar of the THEMA activities for the Indian Ocean region (THEMA-IOC).

IOC Workshop held in March 2008

This workshop, held in the frame of the Coastal and Marine Management activities done in the IOC, took place  at the University of Mauritius on the 13th and the 15th of March 2008.

The objectives of the workshop were to:
  • Inform on AMESD project (goals, deadlines, Technical Assistance, EDF procedures, planned actions, etc.) and present data and technology provided by EUMETSAT/EUMETCast;
  • Submit examples of operational services using earth observation data from space for marine and coastal applications;
  • Find a common vision on the THEMA " Coastal and Marine Management" with a first identification of regional partners and potential beneficiaries;
  • Validate a methodology and a planning for the THEMA development.

At the end of these two and a half days, a synthesis has been agreed upon by all participants. This synthesis is available in the Library.
